MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Communications Resource Inc. (CRI) announced today that it has been named the Small Business of the Year by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) nominated CRI for support to USDA’s program to provide standardized government-wide secure and reliable forms of ID to FSIS employees and contractors for access to federally-controlled facilities and networks. The program is mandated by Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 (Policy for a Common Identification Standard for Federal Employees and Contractors program).
CRI’s exceptional level of HSPD-12 support is the basis for this recognition. FSIS personnel cited CRI personnel’s outstanding performance level in providing current and accurate subject matter expertise and proactive identification of potential issues and recommendations.

The USDA, Office of Small Disadvantaged Business Utilization presented CRI its award at the 2009 Small Business and AbilityOne Awards Ceremony in Washington, D.C. on June 18, 2009. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack was the keynote speaker.
